In Spite of Cancellation–The 17th Great North Run & Fitness Fair Supports Students

We are living in an unprecedented time. Things are changing day-by-day due to the COVID-19 pandemic, but here at the Advancement Center there is one thing that remains constant–our commitment to our Washington Township public schools.

Though there were no runners sprinting through the finish line on North Central campus March 14th, the spirit of our event lived on. Over $43,000 in proceeds was gifted to our non-profit organization to support our schools during this difficult time. Registration fees were used to sustain the health of the overall community–supporting exceptional learning opportunities for students in the midst of this health crisis and in the form of incentive checks back to our schools. In addition to financial contributions, all of the food donated for our event by Commercial Food Systems, Frito Lay, Keurig Dr. Pepper, McFarling Foods, and Rich Product Corporation was distributed in the form of food packets to vulnerable families in our community. Though there was no cheering and fanfare on March 14th, our Washington Township community showed up.

Thank you to our registrants and amazing sponsors who supported the event in spite of of the unusual circumstances! Though our school buildings are temporarily closed, learning is still continuing. The classroom just looks a little different and needs our support now more than ever! We are so grateful for your support now and in the days ahead.
