The class of 1997 is gearing up for their 20th reunion this weekend. So in honor of the 1997 glory days our final football flashback will focus on this successful year in Panther history. After losing the season opener to the top ranked Greyhounds of Carmel 14-20, the 1997 Panthers went on to win six of their next seven games in the regular season. Team captains Matt Gonso, Jim Bach and Lauren Rice all showed tremendous leadership during their senior campaigns. After defeating Pike in the opening round of sectionals, the team next faced undefeated and fourth-ranked Kokomo. Despite being the underdog, the Panthers made it a close game, eventually falling to the Wildkats 29-31.
Join us tomorrow night as this years Panthers write their own homecoming story. One that we hope will be part of a larger season of success.
