Panther Football… 1987

This week is all about embracing school spirit! As we roll closer to the homecoming festivities on September 8th the level of anticipation and excitement is palpable! The football team is busy prepping for victory over Lawrence North… something the 1987 football team knows a little bit about!

The 1987 Football campaign was the twelfth winning season in a row for Coach Pappas and the North Central Panthers.  Over this time, North Central football competed with some of the best teams in the state, and this year was no different.  The NC defense was known as one of the tops in Central Indiana and held four of their seven regular season opponents scoreless.   With a 4-3 mark at the conclusion of the regular season, the Panthers took on heavily favored Lawrence North in the first round of sectionals and dominated the Wildcats 36-14.  After completing the “Lawrence sweep” by bettering Lawrence Central in the second round of sectionals, the Panthers fell to undefeated, and eventual state champion, Carmel in the sectional title game.  The 1987 team was made up of numerous seniors who contributed to the success of the Panthers during their time at North Central High School.
